Raymond Dresen

Dresen, Raymond J. CROSS PLAINS Raymond J. Dresen, age 80, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2008. Ray was born on May 9, 1927, on the family farm in rural Cross Plains, the son of Jacob and Kunigunda (Statz) Dresen. He married Valeria Wipperfurth on April 15, 1950. He and Valeria farmed until he retired at age 63. Ray was a lifetime member of St. Martins Catholic Church in Martinsville. Dad was an avid woodworker, spending time in his workshop making things for friends and family. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching and their monthly trip to Farm and Fleet in Baraboo (Ha Ha). He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his wife of 58 years, Valeria (Wipperfuth) Dresen, Ray is survived by six children, Susan (Dave Nelson) Danz of Black Earth, Paul (Lori) Dresen of Martinsville, Steve(Donna) Dresen, Alan (Sue) Dresen, all of Black Earth, Jeff (Shirley Noltner) Dresen of Cross Plains and Kris (Jim) Wagner of Middleton; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Mari, Marin and Madeline Danz, Erin (Jeremy Olson) Danz, Eric, Nicole and Kaleb Dresen, Deann and Malte Noeding, Daren and Kristi Dresen, Dustin Dresen, Ashley Dresen, Nick Dresen and Lindsey and Joe Schoenemann; a sister, Cora (Jerome) Hillebrand; and a sister-in-law, Helen Dresen, both of Cross Plains. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Kunigunda (Statz) Dresen; and his siblings, Adeline (Hank) Esser, John (Molly) Dresen, Adam (Marie) Dresen, Nobert (Coletta) Dresen, George Dresen, Margaret (Bud) Drea, Jacob Dresen and Dora Dresen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARTINS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5959 St. Martins Circle, Martinsville at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2008, with Father Bud Hollfelder presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the GUNDERSON CROSS PLAINS FUNERAL HOME, 2421 Church Street, Cross Plains and also on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
