Gordon, Robert Elliott MADISON / MOUNT HOREB Robert Elliott Gordon, age 84, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Ingle Living Communities in Mount Horeb. He was born on March 10, 1924, in Ashland to Ole and Alma (Thone) Gordon. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1942 and attended college at St. Olafs in Northfield, Minn. In 1943, he joined the Maritime Service as a radio operator where they were responsible for delivery of food, fuel and other supplies to troops in various locations throughout the Pacific. He later enlisted in the Army and spent time in Japan following the end of World War II. Upon returning to the United States he joined the reserves. He married Eileen Carolan on Oct. 14, 1953. Bob worked for IBM as a field services engineer for 33 years. Bob is survived by his wife, Eileen of Fitchburg; his sons, Mark Gordon (Debra) of Verona, Eric Gordon of Madison, Paul Gordon of Ashland, and Robert Gordon of Madison; a daughter, Kristin (Alan) Esenther of Ashland, Mass.; and grandchildren, Martin and Erin Gordon, and Sarah, Anna, Ben and Mary Esenther. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday April 21, 2008, at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, , with the Rev. Dale Chesley officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Ashland. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME on 7435 University Ave., Middleton, or from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2008, at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH in Ashland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Bethel Lutheran Church - Youth Programs or the Alzheimers Association - South Central Wisconsin Chapter.
