Obituary

Engelbrecht, Harold "Bud" MADISON Harold "Bud" Engelbrecht, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born on Aug. 4, 1923, in Hoffman, Minn., the son of Otto and Nora (Muetz) Engelbrecht. Bud was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the Far East and Middle East. He was united in marriage to Betty Lucas on March 8, 1947. She preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 2002. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars William "Sonny" Simon Post No. 8216 and volunteered at the Salvation Army. Bud is survived by two sons, John (Janet) Engelbrecht of Brookfield and Tom (Robin) Engelbrecht of Madison; special friends, Irene Cline and Dave Cornwall; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his wife Betty, he was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Nora; and a brother, Raymond in 1962. Committal services will be held at SUNSET MEMORY GARDENS, 7302 Mineral Point Road, Madison at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society at http://www.giveshelter.org/sitemgr/, HospiceCare. Inc. at www.hospicecareinc.com, or to the Salvation Army. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Madison Fire Station 7, Paramedics Kara and Chris H. from Rescue 2, and the compassionate staff of HospiceCare, all of who made a very difficult time bearable.
