Mary Lou Ivan

Ivan, Mary Lou MADISON Mary Lou Ivan, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with COPD/emphysema at Meriter Park Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 3, 1932, in Wingville Township, in Grant County, the daughter of Carl and Mary (McTier) Ohnstad. Mary Lou graduated from Edgewood High School in 1951. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Sidney Ivan on Sept. 20, 1958, in Dubuque, Iowa. She worked for Oscar Mayer for several years and was a member of the Oscarettes. Mary Lou was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching golf, especially Phil Mickelson, cooking, reading, and spending time with family. Mary Lou also enjoyed following politics and the stock market. She was known for her great sense of humor and feisty personality. Mary Lou is survived by her three daughters, Angie (James) Spahr of Madison, Kirsten "Kitty" (John) Harris of Monona, and Dawn (Ted McCutchin) Ivan of Verona; grandchildren, Craig Britton, Aaron Spahr, Joshua Bollinger, Wesley Bollinger, Case McCutchin, and Adam and Lexie Harris; brother, Francis Ohnstad; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney; two sons, Michael Britton and Douglas Ivan; parents; and infant sister, Elizabeth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, on Monday, April 14, 2008, at 11:30 a.m., with Father John Meinholz presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Sunday, April 13, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., with a prayer service at 6 p.m., and on Monday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
