Eugene Orvis

Orvis, Eugene A. MADISON Eugene Arnold Orvis, age 77, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2008. He was born on Dec. 28, 1930, in Madison, the son of Harvey and Henritta (Gilbert) Orvis. Eugene grew up in Denver, Colo. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, where he met and married Evelyn Newbury of New York, on March 20, 1954. He worked for Dairy Equipment, now known as Boumatic for more than 40 years, retiring in 1995. Eugene enjoyed all sports. He liked to golf, and play baseball, basketball, and football. Back in high school he was a Denver High School Athlete of the Year. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Mike (Sue) Orvis of Baraboo, Karen Wilcox of Wisconsin Dells, James (Kathy) Orvis of Madison, and John (Kathy) Orvis of Sun Prairie; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Monday, April 21, 2008, at 7 p.m. A visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
