Fjelstad, Lorraine M. MADISON Lorraine M. Fjelstad, age 87, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2008, at Kindred Hearts. She was born on Oct. 14, 1920, in Kenosha, the daughter of Adam and Frances (Maher) Meyer. Lorraine graduated from Kenosha High School in 1938, and from Kenosha Vocational School in 1940, and then moved to Madison to work, only returning to Kenosha to visit her family. She married Stanley Fjelstad on Nov. 28, 1946, in Stoughton, after Stanleys return from service in World War II as a paratrooper. Lorraine was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Civil Aeronautics Administration, Public Roads, Small Business Administration, and Mine Safety and Health Administration, retiring in 1982. Lorraine received a certificate for 35 years of service with the U.S. Department of Labor. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Madison, and has been a Monona resident since 1950. Lorraine loved dogs, raising six of them over the years. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Brian) Fillbach of McFarland; granddaughter, Blair Fillbach of McFarland; sister, Frances Sonquist of Kenosha; brothers, Robert Meyer of Kenosha, and Gene Meyer of Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Fjelstad on Oct. 14, 2000; her parents; and sister, Margaret Lillejohn. Funeral services will be at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago St., Madison, on Friday, April 11, 2008, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. John Ruppenthal presiding. Burial will be held at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
