Hoffmann, William Dale FORT ATKINSON William Dale Hoffmann, age 94, of Fort Atkinson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Fort Atkinson Hospital. He was born on July 6, 1913, in Indianola, Iowa, the son of Otto and Bessie Hoffmann. William served in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant during World War II. He married Alma E. Mickelson on Nov. 11, 1944, while he was stationed at Truax Field in Madison. When William got out of the service, they moved to Elko, Nev. and resided there until 1952, when they made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah, until 1983. They then moved back to Wisconsin via a four year residence in Iowa and resided in Fort Atkinson. William was a retired mechanical engineer. He is survived by his son, Russ Hoffmann of Kingman, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Norma Campbell of Mazomanie; two special friends, Bill Turpin and Shelly Armstrong; and nieces, nephews and cousins. William was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and a brother, Fred Glenn Hoffmann. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
