Terrence Gurrie

Gurrie, Terrence W. CROSS PLAINS - Terrence W. Gurrie, age 69, bravely battled cancer for two and one half years before passing away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. Terry was born Aug. 7, 1938, to Thomas and Gertrude (Schlicker) Gurrie in Chicago, Ill. and spent his formative years in Fontana. He served in the U.S. Army before uniting in marriage to Colleen White on Oct. 10, 1964, in Elkhorn. He then graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in accounting in 1966. He worked for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue for 28 years before retiring in 1994. Terry was an avid bowler and golfer, achieving both a 300 game and a hole-in-one. He enjoyed winters in Naples, Fla. at the Hitching Post RV Resort with his wife Colleen and the many wonderful friends they made there. Terry is survived by his loving wife, Colleen; children, Sally Cobb of Baraboo and TJ (Susan Percy) of Madison; three grandchildren, Jenna (Jared) Leonhardt of Sauk City, and Kelsey and Sam Cobb of Baraboo; a great-granddaughter, Ava Leonhardt; three brothers, Thomas (Jan) of Elkhorn, Michael (Nancy) of Madison and Dennis of Battleground, Wash; brother-in-law, Stan Fairchild of Williams Bay; mother-in-law, Nancy White of Elkhorn; and many nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Tracy; sister, Sandra Fairchild; and his father-in-law, Richard White. Respecting Terrys wishes there will be no funeral service, but memorials may be made to the HospiceCare Center, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711, who gave such loving and compassionate care.
