Shirley Larson

Larson, Shirley V. MONONA Shirley V. Larson, age 90, of Monona, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the HospiceCare Center. She was born on Jan. 18, 1918, in Larchwood, Iowa, the daughter of Wilfred F. and Inez (Grimm) Ashton. Shirley graduated from Broadlawns Hospital Nursing College in 1939. She married W. Marvin Larson on March 1, 1945, at East Side Lutheran Church, in Sioux Falls, S. D. Shirley was a nurse in South Dakota, Iowa and Madison. She was a member of Lake Edge Lutheran Church and was active in the church Bible Circle. Shirley loved gardening, cooking and her family. She is survived by three sons, David (Theresa) of Katy, Texas, and Dale and Don, both of Monona; four grandchildren, Douglas (Missy), Geoffry (Trina), Matthew and Patrick; two great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; parents; two brothers, Royce and John Leslie; and a daughter-in-law, Cathie. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, with the Rev. Shirley Funk presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m until 7 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2008. Memorials may be made to Easter Seals Society.
