Paul May

May, Paul J. Jr. MADISON Paul J. May, Jr., age 81, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. He was born on Sept. 18, 1926, in Leigh, Neb., to Paul Sr. and Grace May. Paul moved to Wisconsin with his parents and brother at a young age. He graduated from Stoughton High School in 1944. Paul enlisted in the United States Navy on Aug. 17, 1944, served in the Philippines during World War II and was discharged on July 27, 1946. He married Frances Holte on July 31, 1948, at Christ Lutheran Church, Stoughton. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. Paul graduated from Madison Business College and worked for Badger Medical Co. until retiring in 1989. He was a member of Lake Edge Lutheran Church. Paul loved to golf and was a charter member of Cherokee Country Club. He was a Badgers Football game season ticket holder since his daughter, Jill played in the UW marching band. Paul bred and showed cocker spaniels, both in obedience and confirmation, was a past member and president of Badger Kennel Club and Southern Wisconsin Cocker Club, and Oregon Saddle Club. He enjoyed hunting ducks and geese, fishing for perch in Wisconsin and walleye in Canada with Pat and other friends. In later years, when health prevented golfing, Paul became a fan of Utica Home Talent baseball and attended Sunday afternoon games regularly. Paul is survived by his wife, Frances; daughter, Jill (David) Weber of Marblehead, Mass.; granddaughter, Erin; brother, Gordon (Ardell) of Madison; five nieces and nephews; and cousins. Funeral services will be held at LAKE EDGE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4032 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2008, with the Rev. Shirley Funk presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona.
