Lorraine Gerfen

Gerfen, Lorraine Marie STOUGHTON/MADISON Lorraine Marie Gerfen, age 93, died peacefully at Skaalen Home, Stoughton, on Thursday, March 20, 2008. She was born at the family home in Dubuque, Iowa, April 17, 1914, and was the first of two children born to Harry and Agnes Hall (Auredon), followed by brother, Harry (Mickey). Lorraine graduated from Madison East High School in 1931, and married Edward James Foy in 1934. Eddie died unexpectedly in 1953. They had three children; James E. Foy of Milwaukee, Peter D. (Karen) Foy of Stoughton, Michael J. Foy of Racine. She married Arthur Gerfen in 1960. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; brother; husbands, Eddie and Art, great-grandson, Max and is survived by her three children; grandchildren, David (Susan) Foy, Kathy (Keith) Schleif, Steve (Rene) Foy, great-grandchildren Lindsey Foy, Kelsey Schleif, Evan Foy, Brenna Schleif, Tessa Foy, Taylor Schleif, Hannah Foy, Sam Foy and Eli Foy. She was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church in Madison for more than 60 years. She enjoyed reading, sports, her many great friends, her card club for 50 years, and had a lifetime interest and keen awareness of current events and politics. Lorraine was happiest when surrounded by her family. Because her family lived close the gatherings were frequent. She enjoyed reminiscing about the numerous family trips, including going to Europe and multiple vacations to Hawaii. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Highway 51 North, on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
