Obituary

Fjelstad, Judith Ann MADISON/ BARABOO/ PHILLIPS Judith Ann Fjelstad, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Skaalen Home, Stoughton, from Alzheimers Disease. She was born on June 9, 1940, at St. Marys Hospital, Madison, the only child of Reinhart H. A. and Genevieve L. (Johnson) Knuth. Her formative years were spent in Baraboo and later Phillips, where she graduated from Phillips High School in 1958. She later enrolled in the Sauk County Teachers College, graduating in 1963. While teaching in Montana, she met and married Dennis Fjelstad on Dec. 31, 1963, and from this union were born daughters, Colleen and Wendy. Judy settled in Madison where she raised the girls and worked for many years for the Madison Public Library. She was a kind and gentle soul who had a great love for her children and grandchildren, as well as gardening, gospel/country/bluegrass music, and playing the piano. Judy leaves behind two daughters, Colleen Adams of Madison and Wendy (Michael) Storlie of Wittenberg; and three grandchildren, Josh, Emily, and Jessica Storlie, all of Wittenberg. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 3 p.m., on Saturday, March 15, 2008, with the Rev. David Brynelson of HospiceCare presiding. Inurnment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. The family would like to thank everyone at Homestead Living in Waunakee, Skaalen Home in Stoughton and HospiceCare, for their exceptional care of Judy these last five years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any of the previously mentioned caregivers.
