Virnig, Maude P. SUN PRAIRIE Maude P. Virnig, age 89, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the HospiceCare Center. She was born on Aug. 28, 1918, in Crawford County, the daughter of Andrew and Dolly (Langford) Stephenson. Maude married Gregory Virnig in 1954. He preceded her in death in 1986. Maude is survived by her son, Gregory Virnig of Sun Prairie; three grandchildren, John Virnig, Thomas (Nicole) Virnig and Cindy Virnig; a great-granddaughter, Bailey; and brothers, Russell (Diane) Stephenson and Donald (Jo) Stephenson. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Melvina and Marion; and brothers, Charley, Wayne and Doc. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. My aunt Maude wasthe only one of my dads sisters I remeber spending time with I have many memories of visiting her and uncle Greg in Madison. I thought it was so cool the house was on top of their garage. i would have liked to have had a chance to say good bye.Im sure she was met by her parents two sisters Melvina and Mabel and her six brothers Gerald Wayne

I got to know Maude a few years back when I took her communion from St. Olaf's a few times a month. She was so dear and I always loved seeing her. She had a great attitude and always was upbeat and left things in God's hands. I loved hearing her stories and she liked listening to mine, too! I have missed her since she moved away last May and have thought of her often. I will be sure to have a mass or two said for her at St. Olaf's here in DeForest. My sympathies go out to Maude's son and family. She was a special and fun lady. God bless you, Maude!
