Obituary

Arnold, Edward W. OREGON Edward W. Arnold, age 77, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at HospiceCare. He was born on Aug. 21, 1930, in Nekoosa, the son of Joseph and Mary (Vruwink) Arnold and was raised in Pittsville. Edward served his country in the U.S. Army, as a sergeant with the 6th Armored Division, during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Bliemeister on Aug. 25, 1956, at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Waukesha. Edward received a degree in entomology from UW-Madison. He worked for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture-Trade and Consumer Protection, retiring in 1993, as the states apiarist. In retirement, he was an avid collector of Pittsville pottery, and a member of the Wisconsin Pottery Association. Edward was a member of Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church and the Oregon-Brooklyn Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rose; six children, Kathleen Arnold of Madison, Peter (Christine) Arnold of Cottage Grove, Julia (Pat Godin) Arnold of Lubec, Maine, John (Mary) Arnold of Blue Mounds, Steven (Khristan) Arnold of Winchester, Va., and Michael (Tanya) Arnold of Cross Plains; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Zami, Kira, Elizabeth, Ryan, Owen, Natalie and Makena; and three sisters, Jean (William) Hatch of Mauston, Fern Balesteri of Greendale, and Carol (Wayne) Fritz of Wisconsin Rapids. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, with Father Bill Connell presiding. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, Oregon, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, with a pass-in-review at 7 p.m. Private burial will be at St. Johns Catholic Cemetery in Altdorf. Memorials may be made to the Oregon-Brooklyn V.F.W.
