Jerome Dewane

Dewane, Jerome A. "Jerry" MADISON Jerome A. "Jerry" Dewane, died from lung cancer on Sunday, March 2, 2008. He was born on Aug. 14, 1951, in Maribel, the son of Maurice and Mary Louise (Klauke) Dewane. Jerry graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary parochial school and Monona Grove High School in Monona. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1971. He served at Lackland and Sheppard Air Force bases in Texas, and also in Sparvohn, Alaska. He received an honorable discharge at Cannon Air Force base in Texas, in 1974, with the rank of sergeant. He moved to Nebraska in 1976 and was employed for many years at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, before returning to Wisconsin. Jerry loved the challenge of a difficult crossword puzzle, and also enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and tennis. Jerome is survived by his father, Maurice Dewane; brothers, Larry (Sue) and Doug (Marcia) Dewane; sister, Janet Dewane; son, Adam; daughter, LeAnn; and grandchildren, Noah, Kala, Harland, and Libby. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Dewane. A memorial Mass will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Father John Meinholz presiding. Inurnment will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Union Grove.
