Oren Otteson

Otteson, Oren OREGON Oren Otteson, age 96, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at Oregon Manor. He was born in the Town of Rutland, the son of Otto and Anna (Sveum) Otteson. Oren married Ruth Turner on Oct. 29, 1932, in Rockford, Ill. He farmed from 1932 until 1961. Oren then owned the Waterfall Restaurant and Motel from 1961 until he retired. He is survived by two children, Donna (Don) Alme and Darlene (Davis) Toothman; six grandchildren, Dawn (Harold) Smith, Davis Toothman, Deanna (Richard) Gullickson, Darsy (John) Schulz, Mike (Danielle) Olson and Danik (Curt) Mahr; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Oren was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in April of 1994; a granddaughter, Debra Joyner Elmer; his parents; and eight siblings, Oscar, Johnnie, Sanford, Emma, Josie, Rannie, Ora and Rebecca. Funeral services will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, Hwy B, Stoughton, on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Scott Geister-Jones presiding. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
