Obituary

MADISON - Eleanor C. "Ellie" Finn, age 93, passed away on Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at the HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. She was born in Blanchardville, on July 29, 1914, the daughter of the late William and Clara Belle (Bishall) Crooks. She was united in marriage to Norman F. Finn in Madison on Oct. 7, 1933. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Eleanor worked for 40 years in the grocery trade at Progress Grocery, Martinelli Market, Diamond Grocery, and Ranes. She later became a housekeeping supervisor at Madison General (Meriter) Hospital and worked there until her retirement in 1979. She was active for many years in the Eagles Auxiliary and volunteered for the Red Cross and other charitable groups. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Patricia (Roger) Staven of Madison, Bruce (Elaine) Finn of Stella, Mo., and Gayle Langkamp of Madison; her grandchildren, Scott Staven, Mark (Ellen) Staven, Chris (Bonnie) Staven, Greg Finn, Mina Wagner, and Erik Langkamp; and great-grandchildren, Carol and Joshua Wagner, Dane, Kyle and Michael Staven. She is further survived by many beloved nieces and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; son-in-law, Vincent Langkamp; her sisters, Sophia Gladdem, Myrtle Adney, Merle Whiting, Mae Ihus, Mary Daly, Evelyn Magnuson, Clara Roth, and Alma Oscar; and a brother, George Crooks.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, with the Rev. Jacqueline Sharer Robertson presiding. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to HospiceCare, Inc.

The family especially wishes to thank the staffs of HospiceCare, Karmenta Nursing Home, Gale Gaustad and Dr. Elizabeth Trowbridge for their loving care of our mom.
