Williams, on March 1, 1928, in Mason City, Iowa. Barbara was raised in Garner, Iowa, and graduated high school in 1946. While in school, she was a member of the school band and was also a cheerleader. She excelled in roller skating at an early age and dancing throughout her lifetime. Barbara also enjoyed cooking and playing any card games, especially bridge. After graduating from high school, she attended Clark College in Dubuque, Iowa, until returning back home to help her mother run the Garner Leader and Signal newspaper. She proceeded to enroll at Hamilton College in Mason City, Iowa, where she received her accounting degree. Barbara also met her future husband, Gus Pappas, while attending college there. They were married in 1949 and shortly after, she started her profession of teaching piano lessons to many children in Garner. She also played organ for the church choir for many years. Barbara was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In January 1967, she and Gus moved their family to Madison. She continued to teach piano lessons until the mid 1980s. They truly enjoyed traveling to visit family in many locations and she was especially captivated by the Pennsylvania Amish communities. Barbara is survived by her husband, Gus Pappas of Madison; her children, William (Diane) of Madison, James of Madison, Zoanne of Columbus, Ohio, and Tom of Dubuque, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare or Alzheimers Association. The family wishes to thank the very dedicated staff at Oak Park Place and HospiceCare, for all they have done for our family. "We will all miss your infectious smile!"
