Dame, Lois A. MADISON Lois A. Dame, age 88, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008. She was born on Nov. 24, 1919, in Marshfield, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Schultz) Russler. Lois married Jerry L. Dame on July 17, 1965. He preceded her in death in 1971. Lois graduated from Appleton High School in 1937, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a B.S. degree in education. She did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Northwestern University, in Evanston, Ill., and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. Lois taught in the public school system of Plymouth, Janesville, and Madison. While in Madison, she taught at Herbert Schenk School and Orchard Ridge. She was active in theater work in resident theater in Kansas City, Mo., Janesville community theater, University Players at the University of Wisconsin and Oshkosh Players, Oshkosh. During World War II, she attended a modeling school in Chicago, Ill., and opened the first childrens modeling school on Michigan Avenue. She also did professional acting in the summers on the east coast. Her volunteer work included American Red Cross, WHA-TV Friends, Hospice, the American Cancer Society, and was awarded the 1983 Crusade Citation. She is survived by a niece, Kathleen Kunz of Portage and a nephew, Fred Russler of Appleton. Lois was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Shirley King; and a brother, Frederick Russler. Private family services will be held for Lois.
