Fern Hanson

Hanson, Fern Ricker MADISON Fern Ricker Hanson, age 89, passed away peacefully at Oregon Manor, Oregon, on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008. She was born in Fargo, N.D., the daughter of George and Tina (Kleven) Olson, the second of 11 children. Fern was united in marriage to John O. Ricker in 1936, and they had three children, Jack Jr. (Mary Ann), Barbara, and Kenneth "Bud" (Rita). She was preceded in death by John, in 1968, as well as by five of her siblings. She married Melford Hanson on June 27, 1970, and they spent many years enjoying her favorite pastime of dancing at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post. Together they also spent many winters in Florida. Fern had seven grandchildren, Lynn (Mark) Krizan, Brian (Paula) Ricker, Bruce, Tony (Lynnette) Ricker, Lori (James "Bubba") Evans, Linda (Jimmy) Lavender, and Lisa (Mike) Young; and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Russ Leeper presiding. The final rites of passage will be in the Chapel at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
