Richard Griffin

Griffin, Richard Lee MIDDLETON Richard Lee Griffin, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008. He was born on April 8, 1931, in Madison, the son of Richard and Laura (Lee) Griffin. He was a 1949 graduate of East High School of Madison. Richard was united in marriage to Donna J. Foss on Aug. 6, 1955, in Bethel Lutheran Church, Madison. She preceded him in death in 2003. For 35 years, he worked as a dental laboratory technician for the Veterans Administration, retiring in 1986. He was a United States Army veteran and also served in the Navy Reserves. Richard was an Eagle Scout, volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 180 of Middleton. Richard was an avid bowler and fisherman, but treasured most the time spent with his family and friends. He is survived by three daughters, Susan (Tom) Christiansen of North Padre Island, Texas, Sandy (Troy) Brazier of Omaha, Neb. and Sally Haluzak of Cottage Grove, Minn.; six grandchildren, Barbara, Lynda, Brett, Laura, Riley and Spencer; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Hayley; a sister, Darlene (Dave) Hanks of Cable; and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his wife, Donna, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Weary; and a son-in-law, Bill Haluzak. Funeral services will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, with the Rev. Brad Pohlman presiding. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, in Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
