Carpenter, Clarence D. "Carp" OREGON Clarence D. Carpenter, age 79, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at his home after a short illness. He was born on April 25, 1928, in Wausau, to Joel and Anna (Sass) Carpenter. Carp graduated from Wausau High School in 1946. He served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Toledo and U.S.S. Mississippi. Carp and four of his brothers served in the military at the same time. He married Jean Waddell on Aug. 6, 1949. Carp worked at Oscar Mayer Foods for 39 years, retiring on July 1, 1987. After retirement, the company contracted with Carp to help establish a new production line in Thailand. He was a devoted Packers and Badgers fan. Carp and Jean loved to travel. They visited six continents and took a three month cruise around the world. Carp enjoyed making memorial flag cases with his son, volunteering for Junior Achievement, and for 40 years, regularly donating blood to the American Red Cross. He enjoyed family gatherings and made friends wherever he went. Carp is survived by, his wife, Jean; six children, Patricia (Charles) Kmet, Terry (Richard Bucheger) Carpenter, Gail (Thomas Maerz) Carpenter, Kim Carpenter, Rick (Dana) Carpenter and Dana Carpenter; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Dustin Tarkenton; six brothers; a half brother; and half sister. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family
