Nancy Hurdle

Hurdle, Nancy WAUNAKEE/MIDDLETON Nancy Hurdle, age 80, formerly of Middleton, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at U.W. Hospital. She was born on Jan. 3, 1928, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Dora (Watkins) Blakesley. Nancy married Wendell Hurdle on Dec. 18, 1949, and he preceded her in death. She was a 1946 graduate from City High School in Iowa City. Nancy worked for Dr. Terry Burke for 17 years. Nancy enjoyed Tuesday morning neighborhood coffee club in Waterloo, Iowa, as well as the Mother of Twins Club monthly meetings. No matter where Nancy lived, she had wonderful friends and neighbors who loved her. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Rae (Brian) Gutheinz of Amana, Iowa, and Ruth Ann (Dan) Turnquist of Waunakee; a son, Robert Allan (June) Hurdle of Columbia, Mo.; grandchildren, Eric Paul Dorn, Benjamin Robert Turnquist, Robert Blake Hurdle, Katherine Chistine Hurdle; and a step-grandson, Joshua Daniel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Hurdle; her parents, Ray and Dora Blakesley; a sister, Doris Kriz; and a brother, Hal Blakesley. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Avenue, Middleton, at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, with the Rev. James Tanner presiding. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home in Middleton. Funeral services will be held at GAY AND CIHA FUNERAL HOME, Iowa City, Iowa, at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, with burial to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Dane County Humane Society or charitable organization of your choice.
