Obituary
Childs, Bradley R. "Brad" MADISON Bradley R. "Brad" Childs, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008. Brad was born on Aug. 18, 1922, in Superior, the son of Bradley and Emma Childs. He graduated from Ladysmith High School, and as a young man, helped run the Beanery Restaurant along the railroad in Ladysmith. Brad was a World War II Army Veteran who served in the Pacific during the war. After the war, he attended UW-Madison where he met his future wife of 60 years, Laura Anna Sabey. After returning to Ladysmith to run the family business for a few years, Brad moved to Madison as a U.S. postal carrier and retired with over 30 years of dedicated service. Among his hobbies, Brads love of Disney World, camping, fishing, photograph and classical music were among his most cherished. Brad is survived by his "Kuuipo" and wife, Laura A. (Sabey) Childs of Hononlulu, Hawaii; eight children, Bradley "Tuffy" Childs, Jacqueline Childs, Marquis "Bill" Childs, Vicki and John Domack, Katherne and Richie Otis, Patricia and Grant Gerggre, Pollyanna Kaske, and Christopher and Tina Childs; 17 grandchildren, Jasen and Laura, Josh and Amy, Alyshia and Will, Nichole and Michael, Natalie, Adam and Liz, Kyra, Brandon, Sabrina and Enrique, Damon, Chad, Bradley "Bear," Karissa, Joseph, Jacob, Dylan, and Katie; 11 great-grandchildren, Alan, Alyssa, Brittany, Alexa, Donovan, Dominic, Madisen, Caleb, Mason and Lilliana; and brother, Jack Childs; friends, Art and Morna Barr, the Domack Family, the Otis Family, Tim Kaske and Family, the Meseberg Slind Family, the Alenberger Family, Mike Daly, Rode Weisensel, Carla Imhoff and Carl Drake, Julius "Doug" Johnson, Stacy Sturm; and many others. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mazine Schmoll. Brad will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Pastor John L. Swanson of Bethel Lutheran Church presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, from noon until the time of service. The family would like to extend a special Mahalo "Thank you" and Aloha to the nurses and staff at St. Marys Care Center for the tender loving care given to our father and grandfather. Ta Ta For Now.
