Obituary
Ostrander, Donald Lawrie MADISON Donald Lawrie "Pa" Ostrander, age 85, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at HospiceCare. He was born to Vera and Lawson Ostrander, on May 21, 1922, in Madison. Pa served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the military police in Europe and the South Pacific. He worked for the University of Wisconsin Medical School for 35 years in pathology. Pa was an avid sports fan including, UW football and UW hockey. He especially enjoyed attending games with his son-in-law, Dave. Pa also enjoyed frequent dinners with special nieces and nephews, Dorothy (late, Tom) Coenen, Gordy (late, Audrey) Rasmussen, Ruth (late, Dick) Helleckson, Phyllis (Howard) McAllister and David (Shirley) Rudd. He is survived by daughters, Diane (Dave) Burling and Denise (John) Cliver; three grandchildren, Kevin (Joy), Lorin (friend, Barb) and Mitch (Sarah); four great-grandchildren; a great great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, Arlene Brunsell. Pa was preceded in death by his wife, Verda; his parents; and siblings, Mabel, Laura, Fern, Dorothy, Vera, Muriel and David. A memorial visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008. Private family services will be held. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI 53711 or Care Wisconsin Inc., 2802 International Ln., Madison, 53704. The family wishes to thank Dr. R. Alt, Dr. William Rock, and all of the wonderful, caring Hospice staff that treated Pa with respect and dignity, as well as great support for the family. We would also like to thank the great staff at Cottage Café, where Pa was a frequent customer. Pa was a devoted, loving, kind, generous, caring and giving husband, father and friend, and will be deeply missed by all, but will remain in our hearts forever. "Pa, I love you."
