Virginia Frydenlund

Frydenlund, Virginia BAKERSFIELD, CALIF./ MADISON Virginia "Ginny" Lucille Frydenlund, age 84, died in Bakersfield, Calif., on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, after a long decline in health. Her daughter, Naomi and son-in-law, David, were present at the time of death. Ginny was born April 4, 1923, in New Haven, Conn., the youngest daughter of Lester and Marie (Hoer) Hopkins. She developed her singing talents, graduating from New York Citys Juilliard School of Music in 1947. In 1948, Ginny heard Billy Graham in person and joyfully accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. In 1949, Ginny married Ingeman K. Frydenlund, and in 1956, they moved to the Madison area, where Ingeman had been raised. They were long-time members of Bethany Evangelical Free Church. Ginny worked for Madison Public Schools Board of Education and the Madison Area Retardation Council for many years; then as church secretary at Bethany. Ingeman died in 1986, and in 2001, Ginny moved to Bakersfield, Calif., to be near her daughter, Naomi. Ginny is survived by her daughter, Naomi (David) Sturm of Bakersfield, Calif.; son, Allan (Liza) Frydenlund of Carmel, Ind.; by six grandchildren, Brad Sturm, Rachel Uthmann, Laura Sturm, Andrew Frydenlund, Jennifer Frydenlund, and Marie Frydenlund; by a great-granddaughter, Mia Sturm; a sister, Eleanor Brockett of Brookfield, Conn.; and sister-in-law, Betty Geier of Madison. Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Ingeman; son, Arnold, in 1991; and her sister, Florence Cummings, in 1976. Funeral services will be held at BETHANY EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 301 Riverside Drive, on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David Carlson presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Monona, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethany Evangelical Free Church.
