Walter Hoplite

Hoplite, Walter E. MADISON Walter E. Hoplite, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008. He was born on May 10, 1949, in Ann Arbor, Mich., the son of Charles and Emily Hoplite. Walter graduated from Madison LaFollette High School in 1968 and then joined the U.S. Marines. He was united in marriage to Gloria Miller in June 1969, in Logan, Ohio. Walter worked for Fabco and the Swiss Colony. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, deer, pheasant and turkey. Walter is survived by his wife, Gloria; a son, Eugene; a daughter, Angela (Jeff) Vandenorth; three grandsons, Darek, Ryan and Justin; a brother, David (Diane); a sister, Mary (Jim) Dawson; several nieces and nephews; and his constant companions, Rusty and Gunner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and favorite dog, Buckshot. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, with Capt. Carol Bicknell presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
