Obituary

Schroeder, Dwight Walter MADISON - Dwight Walter Schroeder, age 84, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at Karmenta Nursing Home, after a long illness. He was born on Dec. 23, 1923, in Eastman, the son of Walter and Irene Schroeder. Dwight attended Madison East High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and played in the Army band. He was united in marriage to Dorothy McCauley on Nov. 26, 1946. Known as "Shorty," he worked as a mechanic and bookkeeper for International Harvester and Gordon Engineering. Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy; two sons, Larry (Kay) of LaValle and Douglas of Waterloo; two daughters, Jeanne (Dilip) Patel of Madison and Joan (John) Arnold of Rosewell, N.M.; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Harold (Marcile) of Richardson, Texas, Willard of Janesville and Wayne (Nancy) of Plover. Funeral services will be held at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Road, Monona, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, with the Rev. Susanne Burwell presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Monona United Methodist Church or Waterloo United Methodist Church, PO Box 124, Waterloo, WI 53594. The family is grateful for the excellent care provided by Dr. Paul Wertsch and the staff at Karmenta.
