Olday, William K. MADISON / COTTAGE GROVE William K. Olday, age 79, died peacefully at Meriter Hospital, on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, after suffering a stroke. He was born in Madison and led an industrious life choosing to work until the end of his life. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Donna M. Hoppmann, who preceded him in death in June of 2007. Bill and Donna knew each other since childhood and were married for 57 years. They had two children, William D. Olday and Randall S. Olday, who survive them. Bill developed a career in executive sales management while working for Jewel Tea Company, as well as several successful businesses of his own which included the Royal Furniture Manufacturing Company, a Century 21 Gold Post real estate brokerage and the Classy Maids residential cleaning service franchising company, which attracted franchisees throughout the United States and Mexico. He ended his working career at the City of Madison Parking Utility. His easy smile and likeable manner made him successful and liked by all. Bill was active in the V.F.W. and leaves behind many friends. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 3 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, with the Rev. Bernt Tweit presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
