Kay Mergen

Kay Marie Mergen, age 63, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly, following a stroke on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at University Hospital. She was born on Aug. 11, 1944, in Madison, the daughter of Phil and Selma (Bade) Mergen. Kay was a registered nurse for 40 years and worked in the Madison area for more than 25 years. She loved animals and enjoyed reading, cross stitch and home crafts. Kay also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Kay is survived by her two sons, Chris (Marge) Gross of Sun Prairie and Ryan (Shelly) Gross of Loves Park, Ill.; six grandchildren, Keelyn, Anna, Quinten, Aidan, Ethan and Mason; a sister, Judy (Bob) Patterson; and nieces, Zoe and Tani. She was preceded in death by her parents; and step mother, Helen. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, with the Rev. Pat Siegler presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society.
