Obituary
Holtz, Joan A. "Joanie" MADISON Joan A. "Joanie" Holtz, age 67, passed away peacefully, after a long respiratory illness. She was born on Oct. 20, 1940, in Algoma, the second of nine children, to Philip and Marie (Malfroid) Yunk. Joanie graduated from Casco High School in 1958. She married Ronald Holtz on Nov. 8, 1958 and they moved to Madison in 1959. Joanie worked as an insurance agent for Greater Insurance Service for many years and retired from Custard Insurance Adjusters in 2002. She enjoyed crocheting and crocheted flags, which she donated to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legions for fund raisers. She enjoyed time spent camping with family and friends. Joanie is survived by her husband, Ron; two sons, Douglas Holtz of Madison and Daniel (Tori) Holtz of Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren, Danielle, Maggie and Paige Holtz; sisters, Jeannette (Harvey) Paul of Casco, Joyce (Dave) Kirchman of Algoma, June (Donald) Hucek of Forestville and Julie (Randall) Jacobs of Luxemburg; brothers, John "Jack" (Linda) Yunk of Algoma, Jerry (Sue) Yunk of Sturgeon Bay and Joseph Yunk of Algoma; sister-in-law, Lorraine (Roland) Smith of Kewaunee; mother-in-law, Frieda Holtz of Algoma; and many nieces, nephews and countless, wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Yunk. Funeral services will be held at OUR SAVIOURS EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1201 Droster Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, with the Rev. Brad Homan presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007.
