Bewick, Stephen E. "Steve" BROOKLYN Stephen Edward "Steve" Bewick, age 54, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at home after a long illness. He was born on Dec. 11, 1952, in Madison, the son of Everett and Margaret Ilene (Zwank) Bewick. Steve graduated from Monona Grove High School and then worked for the American Red Cross. He loved fishing and boating. Steve built and owned his own dragster and was an excellent mechanic. He restored old Camaros, but took special pride in his 1965 Chevelle. He is survived by his father, Everett Bewick and his uncle, Wayne (Ruth) Bewick. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Steves cousins, Alan Chute and Janice Freeman, because they have always been there for him. Steve is further survived by many cousins and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, brother and sister. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the services following at 11 a.m. at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007. The Reverend Nicholas Upthall will officiate. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.

I was one of the nurses who cared for Steve when he was on the rehab unit. I remember what a wonderful sense of humor he had. As time went on, I ended being his nurse quite often, and he became one of my 'favorite' patients. I was very saddened to hear of his passing.
