Obituary

Douglas, Lorraine N. MADISON Our dear mother, Lorraine Nellie Douglas, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007. She was born on April 20, 1920, in Adams, the daughter of John E. and Edith A. Johnson. Lorraine graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1938. Her love of caring for others and her thirst for knowledge took her to the Mt. Sinai School of Nursing in Milwaukee. Following graduation, she proudly served her country as an R.N. in the U.S. Army in World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. Upon her discharge after the war, she met the love of her life, Scott S. Douglas and they were united in marriage at the Congregational Church in Adams, on July 3, 1948. Lorraine loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved to travel and explore new places. She had a deep faith and continued to be active at St. Stephens Lutheran Church. Lorraine also lived with conviction of social justice, a sense of what was right and wrong. She was an avid bridge player and achieved the rank of Silver Life Master. But most of all she loved her family; she was first and foremost a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Lorraine will be deeply missed by her son, Dennis Douglas (Mike Brannan) of Monona; daughter, Deborah Tubbs of Neenah; her granddaughter, Mary Tubbs of Neenah; sisters-in-law, Jeannine Robertson and Gloria Johnson; nephews, Jack Johnson, Doug Robertson, David (Madonna) Robertson, Rich (Darla) Robertson and Bill (Beth) Douglas; nieces, Linda (Joel) Cole, Suzanne (Jay) Simon and Diane Eddy; cousins, Margaret (Don) Hollman and Joyce Kujawa; and dear friends, Louise Keener and Helen Jo Hargraves; and many others who were special and important to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott in 1975; a sister, Kathryn Johnson; two brothers, Jack and Harry Johnson; and her parents. A celebration of Lorraines life will take place on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at ST. STEPHENS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona, with the Rev. Nick Utphall presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. Lorraine loved music and always had a song in her heart and, in honor of this, memorials may be made in her name to St. Stephens Lutheran Church Music Ministry. Her very special friend Louise offered the assurance: "Dont worry, Lorraine will know the way."
