Amdahl, Gerald L. "Gerry" OREGON - Gerald L. "Gerry" Amdahl, age 72, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, of sudden heart failure while hunting in Bayfield County. He was born on March 28, 1935, in Thorp. Gerry graduated from Cadott High School in 1953, where he played the tuba and football. He attended UW-Eau Claire for a year in 1957 and he began his career as a mason contractor. In 1965, he started Gerald Amdahl Masonry until he retired in 2005. He had a special love for gardening and hunting. Gerry married the former De Etta Smith of Evansville, on Aug. 14, 1954 and was blessed with 53 happy years of marriage. Gerry is survived by his wife, De Etta of Oregon; a son, Richard "Rick" (Kate) Amdahl of DeForest; two daughters, Julane (Karl) Schneller of McFarland and Cheryl (Stanley) Wilson of Pardeeville; three brothers, Alvin (Caroline) Amdahl Jr. of Madison, Walter (Nancy) Amdahl of Cadott and Lyle (Diane) Amdahl of Cadott; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Leona (Dahm) Amdahl Sr. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, Oregon, at noon, on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007. Burial will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Gerry was a gentle, caring man who always was quick with his wit and quick with a smile. Gerry will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
