Schmidt, David A. "Smitty" STOUGHTON - David A. "Smitty" Schmidt, age 53, of Stoughton, passed away on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at St. Marys Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born in Spooner, on March 26, 1954, the son of Harvey L. and Betty J. (Smith) Schmidt. Smitty graduated from Stoughton High School in 1972. Following high school he served in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1973. Smitty worked for 34 years at Uniroyal in Stoughton. He served as a volunteer fireman in Stoughton since 1991, and also with the McFarland fire department. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed time spent on his Harley. Smitty is survived by his daughter, Jaime (Wayne Richter) Schmidt of Oregon; two sons, Jeremy Schmidt of Stoughon and Jody (Korine Gilderhus) Schmidt of Belleville; special friend, Helen Yopp of Stoughton; five grandkids, Savana Schmidt, Jason Schmidt, Hailey Richter, Julia Schmidt and James Schmidt; step-father, Eugene Sedo of Neenah; three brothers, Randy (Darlene) Schmidt of Racine, Robert Schmidt of Menasha and Roger (Kelly Kosiec) Schmidt of Appleton; a sister, Rene (Jess) Gilbert of Little Chute; his special aunt and uncle, Ken (Fran) Zimmermanof New Glarus; several nieces and nephews; and his special pet, Harley. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and parents. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, Hwy. 51 North at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007. Burial will be at Eastside Lutheran Cemetery with military rites conducted. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
