Marie Brummel

Brummel, Marie FITCHBURG - Marie Brummel, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at home. She was born on May 6, 1911, in Aurora, Ill., to August and Katherine (Altringer) May. Marie married Ralph W. Brummel on May 24, 1933, at St. Nicholas Church, Aurora, Ill. She worked at K-Mart on Ann Street in Madison from 1969 until 1975. Marie was a member of Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church, Fitchburg Senior Center and Fitchburg Elder Singers. She was active in the community, worked at the polls during elections and volunteered at the Luke House meal program. Marie is survived by her children, Gene Brummel of Timonium, Md., Margie (Richard) Blaney of Fitchburg, Lorene Sponsler of Beaumont, Calif., Jerry (Carol) Brummel of Sebring, Fla., and Verne (Joan) Brummel of Fitchburg; a daughter-in-law, Pat Brummel of Brooklyn; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph on June 11, 1982; an infant son in 1951; a son, Duane Brummel; daughter-in-law, Rose Brummel; son-in-law, John Sponsler; brothers, Art, Al, George and Ralph May; and sister, Eleanore Tate. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, with Father Bill Connell presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, Oregon from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007. An additional Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ANNUNCIATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1820 Church Road, Aurora, Ill., at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007. Burial will follow at Marywood Cemetery, Aurora.
