Russell Slinde

Slinde, Russell K. LAKE DELTON/ MADISON - Russell K. Slinde, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, after a long battle with cancer and numerous other conditions. He was born on March 21, 1926, son of Bert and Mabel (Onsager) Slinde. Russell served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was united in marriage to Dagmar Nelson on July 23, 1955. Russell was employed as an operating engineer for 40 years, through the Operating Engineers Local No. 139, until retiring in February 1988. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7591 and American Legion Post No. 534. Russell enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also loved to travel and gamble. Russell is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dagmar; and a son, Russell (Rosanne) of DeForest. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Rhonda and JoEllen; a son, George; an infant son; and brother, Bert. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. A special thanks to Russells oncology nurses, especially Sandi and his HospiceCare nurse, Vicki Murdoch.
