Shirley Dale

Dale, Shirley May MIDDLETON - Shirley May Dale, age 93, passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Harbor House, Middleton. She was born on Nov. 29, 1913, in Salina, Utah, the daughter of Hyrum and Isabella (Jack) Anderson. Shirley grew up in southern California, the only girl with seven brothers. She graduated from El Sequndo High School in 1933. In 1935, she married William O. Coleman. They had two daughters, Patricia in 1939 and Shirley May in 1947 and an infant son and daughter who died soon after birth. In the 50s, she owned and operated Continental Engraving in Bell, Calif. In later years, she was the office manager for Great Western Envelope and H.G. Lawson Manufacturing, retiring in 1978. She and her second husband, Thaddeus J. Dale enjoyed gardening, their pets, eating out, dancing, membership in the Polish National Alliance, traveling and family. Since 1998, Shirley lived in Middleton, where she was active at the Senior Center and spent time with her children and grandchildren. Her family will always remember her kindness, independence, confidence and strength of character. Shirley was a lifetime member of the LDS Church and was a member of the Eastern Star. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Rodney) Anderson and Shirley May (Thomas) Blumhoefer; grandchildren, Catherine (Sean) OBrien, Mark Anderson and Heather (Christopher Formby) McLean; great-grandchildren, Colin and Meghan OBrien and Catriona Formby; special niece, Shirley Jean Kinney; step-daughter, Lorraine Telford; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 326 S. Segoe Road, Madison, with the Rev. Lin Grace Rohr officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, Calif. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
