Obituary
Paul, Susan Lynn GRAND RAPIDS, MINN./MONONA - Susan Lynn Paul, affectionately known as "Z", age 46, passed away peacefully on Nov. 6, 2007, at HospiceCare, surrounded by her family. She was born on Sept. 3, 1961, in Madison, to Roland and Jeanette (Wagner) Paul. Susan graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1979, from University of Minnesota in 1983 with a bachelors in music performance and from Hamlin University in 1986 with a law degree. She practiced law for 19 years. Susan was united in marriage to Richard "Rick" Oswald on Oct. 25, 2001, in Milaca, Minn. She was an avid knitter, spinner and weaver. Susans lifelong dream was to open a yarn store, which she was able to accomplish in 2005, opening Yarnworks in Grand Rapids, Minn. She was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed making the annual trip to Sturgis, S.D., including this last summer. Susan was a Middle Eastern dancer and instructor, a dog breeder and trainer and raised llamas and sheep. She played the classical clarinet and choreographed childrens musicals. Susan liked to learn new things and took on any lesson there was. She is survived by her loving husband of six years, Rick of Grand Rapids; her parents, Roland and Jeanette of Monona; step-son, Alexander Oswald of Grand Rapids; sister, Jacqui (John) Shanda of Madison; nephew, Jason (Kimberly) Shanda of DePere; special friend, Carol Ewald of Maine; and other beloved family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, with the Rev. Katherine Baardseth presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church-Circle of Love, or Habitat for Humanity, Grand Rapids, Minn. Special thanks to the medical community, HospiceCare, family and friends, for all of their support, care and concern.
