Gary Melland

Melland, Gary L. "Fats" MADISON - Gary L. "Fats" Melland, age 51, a local musician and avid fisherman, passed away on Wednesday, Oct., 24, 2007, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on March 5, 1956, in Madison, the son of Selmer and Dorothy Melland. Fats served in the U.S. Army after graduating from high school and was employed at Rowley Schlimgen and Jones and Arnolds Breeze Inn for many years. He loved the guitar, playing for many local bands including Purge and On the Rocks. Fats also loved fishing the Madison lakes and the Canadian waters. Fats left behind his son and best friend, Jimmy; Jimmys mother, Joan Price and her daughter, Jessica; brother, Russ (Merita) Melland; sister, Carol (Jim) Rosga; brother, Robert Melland; sister, Karen Wehrmann; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gordon and Thomas; a brother-in-law, Charles Wehrmann; and a sister-in-law, Pam Melland. A visitation will be held at the GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Monona, on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
