Obituary
Joppa, Barbara A. SUN PRAIRIE - Barbara A. Joppa, age 52, went to be with the Lord, on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007. She was born on Jan. 8, 1955, in Madison, the daughter of Kenneth and Judith (Sachtjen) Barlow. After graduating from LaFollette High School in 1973, Barbara was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, David Joppa on Oct. 6, 1973. Barb and Dave have been longtime members of Door Creek Church. Barb began her working career for Special Living Arrangements, then worked for the UW Food Science Dept and the UW Tax School. Then she began working at Door Creek Church, this is where her talents began to flourish. Barb oversaw the leader of Womens Ministries, envisioned and administered the e-mail prayer chain, which became her personal passion. She sent words of encouragement, both personally and in the name of the church to those in the church who needed them. Barb modeled a life of prayer and selfless concern for others. She enjoyed being with good friends and making new friendships. Barb is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dave; son, Jason (Candace) Joppa; daughter, Melissa (Jeffrey) Fluckiger; grandchildren, Hannah, Caitlin, Nathaniel and Samantha Joppa, Madilynn Fluckiger and expecting Wyatt to be born in February 2008; father, Kenneth Barlow; father-in-law, Dean Joppa; brothers and sisters, Bruce (Jean) Barlow, Beth (James) Bingham, Brad (Tammy) Barlow, Becky Barlow and Brian (Merry) Barlow; and in-laws, Barb Marvin, Sue (Johnny) Aiello, Mary (Steve) Iverson, Dale Joppa and Daniel Joppa. She was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Barlow in 2005; and mother-in-law, Sally Joppa. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at 11 a.m., at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive (corner of Sprecher Road and Dominion Drive), Madison, with the Rev. Cal Steiner presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., at DOOR CREEK CHURCH. Psalm 25:4 and 5 Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
