William Briggs

Briggs, William P. MADISON - William P. Briggs, age 86, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at St. Marys Hospital. He was born on April 28, 1921, in Madison, the son of Harry and Mabel (Pharo) Briggs. William married Betty L. Schloemer on Sept. 6, 1942, in Madison. He worked for the city of Madison, water department for 34 years. William enjoyed woodworking, listening to music and the outdoors. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. William is survived by two daughters, Carol (Jim) Brown of Garland, Texas and Betty Midstokke of Madison; a son, William A. Briggs of Madison; twelve grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lloyd (Erma) Briggs of Madison. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; two sons, David and James; and two grandchildren, Susie and Christopher. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007. Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. A special thank you to the staff at St. Marys Hospital for the special care given to William.
