Obituary

Ryan, William Rex "Rudder" MADISON - William Rex "Rudder" Ryan, age 54, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007. He was born on July 2, 1953, the first child of the late Leo Rex and Yvonne J. (Vonnie Voss) Ryan. Bill graduated from Queen of Apostles High School in 1971 and then attended UW-Madison. In 1991, he married Kim Haack and in 1994 they had a son, Travis William. Bill was recently employed by Grede Foundries in Reedsburg, after a 23-year career with Madison Kipp Corp. Rudder enjoyed his many years of playing fast pitch softball for Lews Seamless Gutters as much as cheering on the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers. A NASCAR fan, Bud Light enthusiast and golfer, he also looked forward to his many nights of bowling, but the real true love of his life was watching his son play football and develop into a wonderful bowler as well. The familys annual camping trip to Pride of America was an event he cherished and together they enjoyed the company of all their friends and relatives. His bartending skills on the East Side of Madison were legendary as well as his sense of humor, generosity and caring nature. He was a longtime member of the Grieg Club, serving as treasurer. He will be deeply missed by all of their members. Bill always tried to put a smile on your face, no matter what your age. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. A true friend to everyone he met. Bill is survived by his wife, Kim; son, Travis; three sisters, Judie, Janice and Mary Jo; sisters-in-law, Sheri (Steve) Eddington, Pamela Haack and Karen (Steve) Vial; brother-in-law, Tim (Lori) Haack; and his mother-in-law, Barbara Haack. He adored and was loved much by his nieces and nephews, Matt, Jenna, Amanda, Allison, Abby Jo, Marisa, Kristi, Stephanie, Cody and Aaron; along with his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, and at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, c/o Park Bank, 2401 S. Park St., Madison, WI 53713. "Itll be fine" -W.R.
