Gailen Boden

Boden, Gailen Carl MADISON/HILLSBORO - Gailen Carl Boden, 81 years, a lifelong resident of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Heritage Manor in Elroy. Gailen, the son of Harry W. and Emma (Dorn) Boden was born July 16, 1926, in Madison. He attended Eastside Lutheran School and graduated from Madison East High in 1944. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines and Japan. Following his discharge he worked at Madison Kipp and later for the State of Wisconsin Hwy Sign Division. He also could be found tending bar for many years at the Esquire Club. He married the former Betty Machovec at Eastside Ev. Lutheran Church, of which the Boden family were charter members. Gail was a lifetime member of the VFW-7591 in Madison. In his spare time and retirement years he enjoyed refurbishing old cars and spending time with family and friends. Surviving Gail is his sister, Aileen McCallen of Windsor; nieces, Diane Fish of Sun Prairie, Lynnette (Brandon) Kettle of Dubuque, Iowa, Dianna McCallen of Queen Creek, Ariz., Peggy (Fianc John Kaat) McCallen of Windsor; many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; mother and father -in-law, Bill and Francis Machovec; a sister, Marion Napstad; brother, Rollin Boden; and brothers-in-law, Fame Napstad and Robert McCallen; and sister-in-law, Geri Boden. Our dear brother and uncle will be missed greatly by ALL. Funeral services are pending.
