Obituary

Ulvestad, JoAnn R. MADISON - JoAnn R. Ulvestad, age 65, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Meriter Hospital. She was born on March 14, 1942, in Madison, the daughter of Orris and Gladys (Hamre) Ulvestad. JoAnn was a 1969 graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a degree in social work. She was actively involved in many community organizations including, Madison Organization Behind Independent Living (M.O.B.I.L.), Access to Independence, Karabis Apartments, Triangle Ministry, Post Polio and was a member of Lake Edge Lutheran Church. JoAnn is survived by her sisters, Lois (Tim) Schmidt of Portage and Arlean (Ronald) Falkner of Brookfield; nieces, Shelly (Dave) Heinkel of Brookfield, Heidi Falkner of Brookfield and Jodie Schmidt of Portage; nephews, Eric Falkner of Pewaukee, Shane Schmidt of Portage, Travis (Christine) Schmidt of Cadott and Ryan (Heather) Schmidt of Oshkosh; a great-nephew, Luke Heinkel; and great-niece, Solveig Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Larry Ulvestad; and great-nephew, Cohen Schmidt. Funeral services will be held at LAKE EDGE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4032 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, with the Rev. Richard Blomker presiding. Burial will be at Bristol Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Triangle Ministry, Lake Edge Lutheran Church, Post Polio, Access to Independence, Bethel Lutheran Church Media Fund or Yahara House. JoAnn is walking with Jesus.
