Wilma Granger

Granger, Wilma L. CROSS PLAINS - Wilma L. Granger, age 83, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at Girlies Manor in Cross Plains. She was born Oct. 29, 1923, to the late Alvin and Irene Walter, in the township of Summit in Juneau County. Wilma was a 1941 graduate of Mauston High School. She was united in marriage to Harold J. Granger on Aug. 31, 1946, in Mauston and they moved to Cross Plains, in 1959. He preceded her in death in 1992. Wilma worked as the head cook at Park Elementary School until retiring to be home with her husband, Harold. Together they were members of St. Martins Lutheran Church where Wilma was active with the church quilting girls. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 245 in Cross Plains. Wilma had a variety of interests including cooking, crafts, crocheting, embroidery and sewing. Wilma loved to travel, hunt and go fishing with her husband, but treasured most the times spent with her family. She is survived by her son, Roger Granger of Mount Horeb; a daughter, Susan (Al) Nelson of Cross Plains; two grandchildren, Jonathon and Jennifer Ruland; two step-grandsons, Andrew and Alex Nelson; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Harold Granger, Wilma was preceded in death by a son, Ralph J. Granger, in 1971; her parents; two sisters, Ollie Wonarski and Lila Mulloy; and two brothers, George and Oscar Walter. Funeral services will be held at ST. MARTINS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2417 Church St., Cross Plains, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, with the Rev. Peter Jonas presiding. Burial will be in Valley Home Cemetery, Cross Plains. Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at the church. Friends may also call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Girlies Manor for their loving care and support given to Wilma.
