Marie Johnston

Johnston, Marie T. MADISON - Marie T. Johnston, age 89, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, after a brief illness at the HospiceCare Center. She was born on July 24, 1918, in Plain, the daughter of George Brey Sr. and Catherine Blau. Marie married Leonard Johnston in 1942. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, cooking, fishing in Minocqua and spending time with family and friends. Marie was always there for her family. She was active at St. Bernard Catholic Church and volunteered at St. Marys Hospital. Along with her husband, Marie enjoyed building the homes they lived in. Marie is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Peterson; grandson Gary (Amy) Peterson; great-grandson, Andrew Peterson, all of Madison; brother, Francis (Janet) Brey of Merrimac and George (Rita) Brey Jr. of Plain. She was preceded by her husband, Leonard, in 1985; grandson Jerry, in 1979; brothers, Vincent, Richard and Joseph; and sisters Anna and Margaret. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Avenue, Madison, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to give a special thanks to Harmony House in Sun Prairie, and the doctors and nursing staff at Meriter and HospiceCare for the care they gave Marie.
