Anthony Chernick

Chernick, Anthony WEST HAVEN, CONN. - Anthony Chernick, age 87, of West Haven, Conn., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007. He was born on June 5, 1920, in New Haven, Conn., the son of John and Anna (Krerzitska) Chernick. Anthony married Anastasia Ragoza on June 7, 1947. A skilled tool and die maker, he retired from Burndy Engineering in 1988. He was an active member of the American Radio Relay League and a member of 1st Congregational Church, West Haven, Conn. In his later years, he specialized in sneaking out to buy ice cream for his grandchildren. Anthony is survived by his wife, Anastasia R. Chernick of Monona; son, Boris Anthony Chernick of North Carolina; daughter, Milana Chernick (Jeffrey) Cox of Madison; three granddaughters, Katherine, Allison and Jessica Cox, all of Madison; and a niece, Barbara (Chernick) Maggio of East Haven, Conn. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Peter Chernick. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007.
