Leslie Crawford

Crawford, Leslie STOUGHTON/ OREGON - Leslie Crawford, age 80, of Stoughton, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, due to a long illness, at the HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. He was born on June 24, 1927, in Evansville, the son of Arthur and Iva (Cunningham) Crawford. Les grew up in the Brooklyn/ Evansville area. Les served in the U.S. Army from 1946 until 1948. He worked for Glenn Phippen for several years, then bought Phippen out. Les then owned and operated Crawfords Super Service, a Sinclair service station. After working for Doring Lincoln and Mercury for several years, he then went to Royal Crown Bottling Company, where he worked for 14 plus years. Les then went across the road to Auto Glass Specialists, where he was a loyal employee for 20 plus years, the best years of his working life, retiring in 1999. Les raced stock cars for many years in the area and became an avid NASCAR fan. He was especially a fan of Bill Elliott. The most important thing in Les life was his beloved family. Les is survived by his wife, Faye; a son, Michael of Stoughton; three daughters, Pamela (Jim) Black of Milwaukee, Robin Crawford of Madison and Sherry Walmer (Don McCartney) of Stoughton; two treasured granddaughters, Tanna and Shawna; and his beloved pugs, Billy Ray, Pugsley and Rocky. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary, by a previous marriage; and two sisters, Elsa and Olivia. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, Highway 51 North at Jackson Street, Stoughton, at noon on Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, with the Rev. Dave Sharpe presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
