Obituary

Peterson, Lyle Gerhard MADISON - Lyle Gerhard Peterson, age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at Belmont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on Aug. 25, 1927, in Columbus, the son of Carl and Hilda (Jurgenson) Peterson. Lyle attended Columbus High School. He was united in marriage to Eleanor "Dolly" Arndt on Sept. 9, 1950, at Liberty Prairie Church, Deerfield. Lyle served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army. He was an active member of V.F.W. Post No. 7591. Lyle worked at Oscar Mayer for 37 years, retiring in 1985. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved a good game of euchre, as well as listening to ball games. His favorite place was the cabin he built on Somo Lake in Tomahawk. Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dolly of Madison; three children, Susan Utecht of Madison, Kevin (Tammy) Peterson of Beaver Dam and Mark (Laurie) Peterson of Wausau; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; a special niece, Patti Glaeser and many special friends and neighbors. Lyle was preceded in death by his son, Thomas; his parents; five brothers, Owen, Neldon, Robert, Paul and Earl; and three sisters, Gladys, Helen and Alice. Pass and Review will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, conducted by V.F.W. Post No. 7591. Funeral services will follow. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
